All members of APROCAM are committed to a responsible and sustainable coffee production, both socially and environmentally.
All of the members’ farms’ employees and their families receive wages that are above the (regional) average; have medical assistance and are offered free transport for the local schools. All of the families living on the farms have comfortable houses with the adequate infrastructure such as sewage system and canalized water and have access to sports facilities.
The use of individual protective equipment, like gloves and goggles, is mandatory and all workers receive special and regular training about accident prevention.
The efforts to preserve the environment include the safeguard of spacious natural areas to protect the native flora and fauna. The protection of water springs also receive dedicated attention since there are several springs in the area that feed into the traditional Water Circuit of the South Minas region (Mantiqueira is the tupi-guarani word for “place where the waters are born”).
